LEARNING OUTCOMES

🔵 🔴 🟡 Course description

The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the concepts of pedagogy and education, so that they are able to define and understand concepts such as pedagogical purpose, goals, needs, lesson design, teaching methods and learning theories. Emphasis is placed on understanding the concept of creativity in teaching, while the aim is to get to know the modern approaches to Arts and Technology in education, through their familiarity with specific applications and examples. The course moves along two main axes: 1. The understanding of basic concepts of pedagogy and teaching, 2. The acquaintance with the concepts of creativity and interdisciplinarity in education. Through this prism, the teaching of digital arts acts as a vehicle for both the development of multiple skills and the understanding of scientific concepts (STEAM approach).

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the basic concepts of pedagogical science

  • Combine the basic elements and techniques of teaching theory and practice

  • Compose objectives, learning outcomes and activities to produce educational scenarios

  • Organize the micro-teaching stages with an emphasis on digital arts

COURSE CONTENT

  1. Introduction to pedagogical theory and research (Pedagogy-necessity and possibility of education)

  2. Historical dimension of pedagogy (from the 19th to the 21st century) - School functions

  3. Transformations of social inequalities through the institution of the school - Typologies of students and teachers

  4. The pedagogical relationship and interpersonal communication in the classroom - central educational ideals and curricula

  5. Learning theories (models and theories - from behaviorism to cognitive theory and constructivism)

  6. Learning theories (models and theories – from sociocultural theories to Connectivism – Contribution of learning theories to the creation of computational learning environments)

  7. Intelligence and Education - The Theory of Multiple Types of Intelligence- Skill Development for the 21st Century - The Need for Creativity, Critical Thinking and Emotional Intelligence

  8. New Literacies & Aesthetic Education - Digital Literacies in Education

  9. Types of Digital Arts & the Aesthetics of New Media -Digital Art in Education -Examples and Tools

  10. E-learning and categories of educational digital environments

  11. Digital Objects and Microteaching

  12. Education-Technology-Art: A relationship with multiple possibilities

  13. Technologies in General and Artistic Education, Part I- (Playful Learning, Virtual Reality in Education, etc.)

  1. Critical discussion on the impact of pedagogical theory and research on the formation of educational reality

  2. Critical discussion on the influences exerted by pioneering educators on the formation of education – the institutional role of the school

  3. Critical discussion on the smoothing of inequalities - Role-playing regarding the typologies of students and teachers

  4. Roleplay regarding teacher behaviors and effects on students – Practicing Bloom's taxonomy

  5. Analysis and comparison of basic learning theories - examples in e-learning

  6. Analysis and comparison of modern learning theories - examples in e-learning

  7. Group-collaborative activities on digital literacies

  8. Group-collaborative activities regarding digital arts genres
